Today’s assignment is to write about the subject “cloak”.  This could be anything – according to Fr. Peck, we can blog about monastic cloaks, women’s cloaks, cloaking devices, whatever.  Well, he had me at cloaking device.  I am a huge Star Wars fan (although I don’t do expanded universe stuff) and cloaking device reminds me of one thing: Slave I, Boba Fett’s ship, which had a cloaking device making it invisible to detection.  When Episode I first came out, my buddy Pete and I went crazy over it – we loved it, which is not typical of many SW fanboys.  We also hatched a theory that Kitster, Anakin’s childhood friend, would turn out to become Boba Fett.  The source of this idea was the fact that Boba Fett is one of the few SW characters to stand up to Darth Vader (Grand Moff Tarkin is another one), so perhaps he was someone who was friends with Anakin as a child.  Also, Kitster and Anakin were slave, and Boba Fett’s ship is called the Slave I.  Alas, it was not meant to be – the Jango Fett storyline in Attack Of The Clones put our theory to rest.  But it made sense at the time!
